Well Met!

I finished up my first playthrough of Dragon Age: Origins on Sunday morning. Aside from a few bugs and a slightly unpredictable difficulty curve, it was a very enjoyable experience. I was expecting something in the style of Mass Effect, but it turned out to be more like Knights of the Old Republic or Neverwinter Nights 2; Unexpected, but not unwelcome.

Assassins Creed II is up next. I'm a couple of hours into it already. They've definitely made some improvements over the original. Combat seems better. The additions of more sandbox-style gameplay is nice, with actual missions instead of the formulaic structure it had before. Ultimately it feels less linear and more varied.

I finished reading the Thrawn Trilogy by Timothy Zahn last night. Overall it was a good continuation of the Star Wars universe. It was my first foray into the extended universe outside of the games.  It got off to a rocky start, and the pacing was frustrating at times, but ultimately I thought it was really good. I'm tempted to pick up the Hand of Thrawn duology next, but I'm not sure I want to delve much deeper than that. We'll see.

Last week I replayed Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare in preparation for playing Modern Warfare 2. I ended up finishing the Modern Warfare 2 Single Player campaign on Saturday. Awesome game. It took about 6 hours I think. I really enjoyed it. It will have a replay at some point on Veteran difficulty (mainly for the achievements, but I wouldn't bother if it wasn't so good).

My backlog of games is still incredibly large though, so I don't know when I'll find time. I think I am probably going to tackle Dragon Age: Origins next. Somehow I need to find time to replay Mass Effect before January (when Mass Effect 2 is released). Assassins Creed 2 is going to arrive soon as well...

Well, I finally managed to find time to get this site back up.  It's been pretty full-on for a while now, but my schedule is now a bit more reasonable.  The upshot of that is it affords me a tiny bit of time for things like this.
